The Canon EOS R100 Mirrorless Camera is the most compact and lightweight option in Canon’s R series. This kit comes with a lens included and offers excellent autofocus and 4K video capabilities. Essentially a re-packaged M50 II, it lacks an articulating touchscreen and image stabilization, it does have a webcam/live-streaming function and a microphone port. Keep in mind that it has a fixed screen without touchscreen functionality and is not compatible with EF mount adapter, so you cant adapt existing EF lenses. It also has a significant crop in 4k mode as well as the loss of tracking autofocus, so the R100 should be considered a 1080p only camera. The R50 model may be worth considering for several upgrades such as a fully articulated touchscreen and more capable autofocus in 4k. But if you’re on a budget, the R100 with the R-FS 18-45mm kit lens is a good starter option.

The Canon R50 camera model offers a 24.2MP APS-C sensor and can capture UHD 4K 30p video recording. It features Dual Pixel CMOS autofpcus for fast and accurate autofocus. With a 2.36m-Dot Electronic Viewfinder and a 3.0″ Touchscreen, framing and reviewing shots is convenient. The camera has a 15 fps Electronic Shutter, Movie for Close-Up Demos Mode, and Vertical Movie Mode. It includes the RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens. Note: that it uses a Multi-function shoe, so 3rd party flashes are not compatible. Unlike the R100 the R50 has no additional crop in 4K mode.
